"THE GREAT MOTHER"

Conceived and directed by Asser Saint Val
The Great Mother is a multi-sensory art installation and performance exploring the primordial feminine — that which births all that exists: her pain, her beauty, her power, and the gifts she continually bestows upon us. The work moves beyond ancestry to encompass the feminine of creation itself, the eternal force that has always existed and always will.
The piece was realized with a collaborative ensemble including body painter and energy healer Adrienne Tabet, bass-baritone opera singers J’Von Brown and Martin Hargrove, sound healers Estefania Andrea and Anh Chau (DC), fiber artist Evelyn Politzer, The Nago Band (Emmanuel Q, Azibe, and Kiki), and myself, Jessica Freites. Asser Saint Val also performed on piano. As performance artist and conduit, I contributed improvised performance segments, developing movement and interactive moments that engaged the audience and helped bridge the visual, auditory, and energetic elements of the installation.
