A Rebel in Venus was a dance-theater work created and directed by Marissa Alma Nick through Alma Dance Theater in response to the silencing and abuse of women, engaging with themes of empowerment, awakening, and the #MeToo movement.

Midway through the piece, I performed an improvised solo structured between opening and closing cues, an ode to Lilith — the repressed, sovereign, shadow feminine. Beginning with my back to the audience in a near-whispered song that expanded into a visceral howl, the solo moved through sensuality, grief, and release. I concluded with a self-selected monologue, the only spoken text in the performance, functioning as a prayer and dedication.
